Visit http://cmsupport.wordpress.com/ for the latest information on the city's continuing smear campaign against participants in the 8.31 CM and to find ways to support those still facing charges (like donating money for their legal defense!).

Pass the link along to any who might be interested.

What Ciresi is saying, and I believe him and agree with him, is that the issue will be turned by the Republicans into "the Democrats are telling our ministers that they have to marry fags...next thing they'll be insisting that we marry men and sheep!" Ciresi has demonstrated on every occasion possible that he is a strong supporter of gay rights (human rights) for all. He supports granting all citizens the same protections and right that others have.

Fruit Fly is right. The politics of this issue must be considered by all candidates when they craft their responses. Ciresi's response shows a lawyers concern that rights be protected on both sides of the issue.

Don't be critical of a candidate because they insist on analyzing the issues and responding based on all the potential effects of a new law...that is why we hire them.

The summer of 97 my daughter walked the valley of death in Minneapolis, she had a brain tumor removed at U of M Fairview. During that trivail to get my mind off things I would cross the Franklin Ave bridge and travel upstream under the bridges to walk out on the Stone Arch Bridge to watch the locks operate and to get my mind off our walk.

Since then we have been back a couple times a year for checkups, in 06 a shunt failed and required replacement, and again this year, five more trips this year, the last being on July 6th to see Amos Lee at the Basilica Block Party, first time to Minneapolis without going to the hospital. I must have been half asleep after a 500 mile road trip from Mission, SD, when I took the U of M exit I ended up in the left lane and ended up crossing the I35 bridge with a graceful recovery and took the University exit back to Days Inn to check in before going to the concert. Thus I have been under the I35 bridge more than I have been over it. Our hearts go out to the people who suffered from the collapse, one victim was from Bonesteel, SD, just down the road from our home. Minneapolis will always have a special place in our heart. I can't help but to dwell on how many bridges could be made safe with the billions we are spending on a war no one wants. Peace

It's the same as anything. Don't disobey laws and the cops will leave you alone. Critical Mass, in my experience of seeing their rides, seems to stir the pot first. I know I shouldn't speak for the entire congregation of riders, but it seems to be an edgy sort of ride. I own a bike and ride with friends, but, for the sake of my safety, I abide by the traffic laws. I realize the message is to "disrupt," and to "make people aware." However, some day , someone is going to seriously get hurt. Motorist, biker, police officer...it's going to happen. And then what? Now your entire ride will be clouded with the "someone died at that event" title. Is that what they want? Is that the type of risk you want to take in the sustainability of your group.

"...cost U.S. taxpayers at least $917,528..." Are you asserting the value of anything done or undone, accomplished or not accomplished in the Congress is a function of the cost in dollars? A thing can cost nothing in dollars yet be without price. Loafing in the sun, for instance. But as Congress loafing in the sun costs as much as Congress loafing on the legislative floor; what each moment costs neither validates nor invalidates what is accomplished. Here, the Congress replied to a scurrilous political attack on a four star general with a Ph.D., whose testimony they required, and who, himself, by the status in the United States of civilian control over the military, cannot reply to such attacks. It should resound to the character of politicians of any stripe to abjure such an attack on a man's character. Disagreement with particular policies, office holders or partisian points of view should not include cheering on the hurling of rotten fruit at one's political adversaries. Debate ought not have any odor, nor traffic in slander.
