Finally coming out of shock - 35W Recovery
Decided not to post video from evacuation. Really doesn’t show anything useful and is just stressful to watch. I will post video from when we finally got back home last night.
To my knowledge we are the only civilians allowed in the exclusion zone. The recovery process is going to be perhaps even slower than people think. They are taking extreme safety measures to avoid any risk of injury. The secondary collapse mentioned below was minor but it takes just one small piece of concrete to wreak havoc.
Thank you to everyone in the Mpls Police and Red Cross who helped us get back.
I’m also grateful to the media who put us in touch with the right people.
Initially, no one knew who to talk to - special thanks to Jeff Passolt of Fox 9 who took a vested interest in the situation and eventually put me in contact with the right person.

Glad you made it back home safe and sound.
All my thoughts to you and to all shocked people in Minneapolis for a speedy and complete recovery.
Thanks for your posts.

Congratulations on making it back to your home, and God bless the help you gave to fellow Minneapolitans. My partner and I made it down to the site as fast as we could but there was nothing for us to do but stand there with our mouths agape.
Thanks for your posts….

Hey Noah, you must’ve just had your windows rattled by Laura Bush and her three helicopters. I don’t even want to be around the U during the day, but at least I can go home and not have to deal with constant helicopters and slack jawed gawkers. You must be living in a surreal world right now. Hang in there.

I am so relieved more people weren’t killed. A friend relayed your blog URL to me (Shaun M). I’m glad you are safe but what Rick said about PTSS is definitely valid I’d say….Be safe.

I think we saw you sitting in the lobby of Mondale Hall this afternoon. We think you should start a paypal account to receive funds for temporary housing.
